The long game

495 lbon the bar

  1. Week one

We teach the shape of the lift first — bar, feet, brace. Nobody starts loaded.

  2. Month three

The shape holds under load. Now we add weight to it, a little at a time.

  3. Year one

The bar looks exactly the same as the day you met it. You don't.

The floor

Built for training, not lounging.

No mirrors-first layout, no queue for a rack. Everything here exists because somebody uses it every week.

  • Eight full platforms

Competition racks, calibrated plates, and room to miss a lift safely.

  • Dumbbells to 150 lb

Fives through one-fifties, in fives, and nobody hoards the rack.

  • Specialty bars

Safety squat, trap bar, axle, and a deadlift bar with real whip.

  • 40-ft turf strip

Sleds, farmer carries, and enough runway to push something heavy.

  • Ergs & air bikes

Rowers, ski ergs, and assault bikes for the days you hate yourself kindly.

  • Showers & lockers

Hot water, clean towels, day lockers. Train at lunch, back by one.

  • Chalk friendly

Bowls on the floor, always full. Grip first, tidy up after.

  • Free parking

A real lot, right out front. Walk in, warm up, no meter anxiety.

Coaching

Meet Dana.

“Strength is a skill. We teach it.

Dana Okafor opened Ironworks after fourteen years under the bar — lifter first, coach for the last nine. She still writes the programming for every class herself, and she'll teach your first squat with the same patience as your hundredth.

Every coach on the floor teaches the lifts the same way: from the ground up, one cue at a time, no yelling required.

  • USAW-L1
  • Nine years coaching
